LISTENING PARTY

October 11, 2012

As a lot of you know, I am a musician in the Jared Mahone band. A big part of that band is our Monday evening JAM Sessions meetings. The band, together with 7-10 other friends, comes together almost every Monday evening to eat dinner and think creatively about the future of the band. This process has been vital in all of the major events we have put on or been a part of, from creating trade show booth displays with music kiosks, to press kits and media blasts.

The Mixtape Project, one of the greatest creative challenges the band has been through, was birthed and seen through to fruition during those Monday night band meetings. The crowd inspired, crowd funded, and crowd chosen album, Mixtape is coming out on October 23rd, and is the culmination of The Mixtape Project.

With the project taking over a year, we wanted to throw a listening party for all those involved in the making of the Mixtape album. We hashed out ideas at our Monday night meetings and came up with some fun ideas. The party included valet parking (thanks Josh Hutton), D.P. Dough calzones, wings and stix (thanks Matt Crumpton), specialty root beer tasting, popcorn, donuts and coffee. The rooms were decorated with framed print collateral from the past several years, which you can see on this site, as well as newspaper and magazine articles the band has been featured in.

In attendance were some of our good friends, including producer and saxophone player, Jerry DePizzo (O.A.R.), Grammy winning Mixing Engineer, Mike Landolt (Maroon 5 “Songs About Jane”), Mastering Engineer, Brian Lucey (Black Keys), drummer, Tom Lasky (The Floorwalkers), bassist, Chris Kost (Post Coma Network), singer/songwriter, Erica Blinn, singer/songwriter, Kevin Daniel,Dave Horn, and all the JAM Sessions crew.

The listening party was a success and we couldn’t have done it without our friends! Thanks to the JAM Sessions crew: Jared, Kara, Krista, Aaron, Jeff, Erica, Stephanie and Steve.
